“I have been creative my whole life without really thinking of it. As a psychologist, I was developing trainings and processes for businesses around the world. Or writing materials and reports. Or performing. Or coaching... Creativity has many faces!
Seemingly very different, I can see a clear parallel between my work as a psychologist and how I enter the art world. I try to approach and experience art with a “beginner’s mind” - an unbiased curiosity, with openness and respect. Step by step shedding light on the details, one by one. The whole picture gets gradually discovered in its own rhythm and movement.
Many of my paintings are directly inspired by the narratives I heard, read, and experienced through forty years of practice. The daily life here and now has a big influence as well. I hope that you as my viewer feel the joy and light in my art as well as connecting to your own imagination whatever challenges you are facing.”
Sweden in the late 50’s
Town of Astrid Lindgrens Bullerby and her literary figure Pippi. A small girl enters her kindergarten where she plays and loves to paint and enjoy colors. Colors that will never leave her: “Color is a power, which directly influences the soul.” (Wassily Kandinsky)
Copenhagen years later
A successful business psychologist enters a small gallery and painters workshop on Islands Brygge. What she sees there is reminiscent to her childhood memories of powerful colors, lovely smells and fun. Her story with colors get confronted with her cultural background of a strong Scandinavian girl: “This I never tried before so I suppose I can be good at it.” (Pippi/Astrid Lindgren)
Present days
Ditte has redirected her life and restarted painting, threw herself into studying numerous contemporary artist and their techniques all over the world, studies at Sotheby’s School of Art in New York and now gathering inspiration from her interactions with environment, nature and people in Sardinia, north-eastern Italy and Denmark. Born as a highly sensitive person, she developed an ability to use that as an asset for her art as well. When you ask Ditte how she found her path with art, she answers: “I never decided myself, the art found me!”
